Wolverines have Spartans, 3-0 start in their sights

Scouting the Wolverines

The Woodstock Wolverines continue to impress early in the 2024 season, with a big win over Woodland (Cartersville) last Thursday. For the Wolverines, it’s their first 2-0 start since 2015. The Wolverines have been more balanced this season on offense, averaging 158 yards per game through the air and 194 yards per game on the ground. Senior running back Isaiah Payton leads the way on the ground with 226 yards and we know it’s early, but he’s on pace for 1,000 yards. Quarterback Graham Burmeister has thrown for 317 yards and 5-TDs in two games. Defensively, Cooper Price has been a menace; already racking up 4 sacks on the young season.

Scouting the Spartans

The North Springs Spartans were off last week and will try to bounce back form their opening week defeat. The Spartans were not able to get into much a a rhythm in week one. We expect them to lean heavily on their ground game. Jonathan Sanon is a big, bruising throw back running back who can set the tone for the Spartans on offense. If they can get him going, his physicality might be able to wear down the opposition this week. North Springs only attempted 9 passes in their first games, so we don’t expect them to come out and pass first.

Pundit's Pick

The Wolverines will look to go 3-0 for the first time since 2014. North Springs is rebuilding and is looking to gain some confidence and momentum before stepping into region play next week. We beleive the Spartans will put a few more points on the board, but we believe Woodstock will hold serve at home. Wolverines by 21.
