Rome vs Woodstock: Wolverines take on Wolves in a David vs Goliath Battle

Scouting the Wolves

The Rome Wolves have won 13 consecutive region games and will look to extend that streak as they host Woodstock this week. Rome has already recorded two shutouts and has only surrendered 48 total points this season, and 33 of those came against Carrollton, a top team in Class 7A. The defense is paced by linemen Justin Terrell and Trey Adams while linebacker Jaedon Harmon has also seen his stock rise this season. The Wolves offense is averaging 42.6 points per game and last week put up 62 points last week. The offense is led by quarterback Reece Fountain who is off to a torrid start, throwing for 1,085 yards and 15-TDs while completing 76.4% of his passes.

Scouting the Wolverines

The Woodstock Wolverines will travel to Rome in search of their first region win since 2020. Woodstock has shown promise offensively as quarterback Peyton Lynch has thrown for over 700 yards and 5-TDs. Chase Colina, Luke Renninger and Will Furstein lead the Woodstock receiving unit and through the first four games of the season combined for 44 receptions for 568 yards and 5-TDs. Defensively, Braedy Sommerville has been a welcome surprise for the Wolverines as he leads the team with 5 sacks while the steady Drew Burmeister leads the team in total tackles.

Pundit's Pick

Everything lines up in this game for Rome to roll. For Woodstock to win, they will need to limit turnovers and find a way to keep an explosive Rome offense on the sidelines. That’s easier said than done. Rome by six touchdowns.
