Creekview vs River Ridge: Grizzlies looking to defend the Den against talented Knights

Scouting the Grizzlies

The Creekview Grizzlies overcame a slow start last week and finished strong as they went to 2-0 in region play for the second consecutive season. The Grizzlies got a big game through the air from quarterback Austin Guest. Guest now has 940 passing yards and 610 rushing yards. Creekview is averaging 157 yards per game through the air and 220.3 yards per game on the ground. The offense is averaging 28.5 points per game while the defense is allowing 15.8. Reed Anderson leads the defense with 14.5 tackles for loss. It’s a defense that has sacked opposing quarterbacks 21 times and forced seven turnovers on the year.

Scouting the Knights

The River Ridge Knights came up on the short end of the stick last Friday as they were outlasted by Sequoyah. The Knights showed they could move the ball on the ground and through the air last week against a relatively stingy Sequoyah defense. The Ridge got three touchdowns receptions from Thomas Tompsen to help pace the offense. Tompsen, Sam Vincent, Grant Hollier, Isaiah Couhglan and now a fully healthy Andrew Hand make for a very formidable receiving corps. We’ve said this before, but every time we have a chance to watch the Knights play, we are more and more impressed with the play of their linebackers, Brandon Burdette, Will Hughes, Wyatt McCarty, and Brice Tomlinson.

Pundit's Pick

River Ridge has won two of the last three games in this series. Both by a margin of three points. We believe this River Ridge offense is just starting to hit their stride. Watch out for this Creekview defense, however. They seem to be different at home and we believe that defense will be the difference this week. Grizzlies by 6.
