NGSN Game of the Week

Scouting the Warriors
The Cherokee Warriors enter Week-2 facing a familiar foe as they host the Etowah Eagles. The Warriors will look to bounce back this week after falling to neighboring Cartersville in Week-1. Junior quarterback Tanner Savasir was efficient last week, completing 75% of his passes for 199 yards and 1-TD. The Warriors defense limited Cartersville to 27 points in the opener. That says a lot as the Purple Hurricanes averaged over 38 points per game last week. It doesn’t get any easier for the Warriors as they will face another prolific offense this week. The Warriors defense will have to find ways to limit the up and coming Etowah Eagles dynamic offense. In order for that to happen, J.D. Burn, Keenan Hunter and Javon Hobson will need to wreak havoc in the Etowah backfield.
Scouting the Eagles
If anyone thought that Etowah was sleepwalking in their scrimmage, they certainly should be on notice as the Eagles scored 63 points in their opener. The 63 points were the most scored in the school’s history, (dating back to 1977). While most of the Etowah starters did not play more than the first half, they were able to rack up big numbers including 200 yards on the ground from the Buffalo, Reece Wehr. We expect a little tougher sledding this week as this week against a more experienced Cherokee defense. Coach Smith’s defense will also have to find a way to ground the Warriors aerial attack. Expect for Joshua Harding, Gabrial Smith and Tajhaun Fabian to be instrumental in putting pressure on the Warriors quarterback. Meanwhile, Vinnie Pacini will help patrol the skies in the secondary.
Pundit's Pick
Etowah seems to have leveled up offensively. They are playing with confidence and a sense that they belong and we suspect they are out to prove that last year’s victory over Cherokee was not a fluke. The Warriors meanwhile will be looking to even the series and test the young Eagles secondary. If this game is high scoring, we like Etowah. If Cherokee can make this into a slugfest, we like the Warriors. We believe this one might be a high scoring game. Etowah by 5.
