Scouting the Yellow Jackets
The Calhoun Yellow Jackets got back into the win column last week with a big win over Carver of Atlanta. The Jackets offense got back on track after being stymied in Week-1. They are led by quarterback trey Townsend who has passed for 283 yards and 3-TDs on the young season. He’s joined in the backfield by a familiar face in Caden Williams. The senior running back has rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown this far this season. The Jackets defense has been pretty sound this season, allowing just 17.5 points per game in the first two outings.
Scouting the Grizzlies
The Creekview Grizzlies are looking to start the season 3-0 for the second time in three years. The Grizzlies success early in the season is due largely in part to a healthy receiving group and a quarterback who is gaining confidence spearheading the offense in his second season as a starter. Austin Guest has tallied 338 yards passing and 215 yards rushing and 7 total TDs. Guest has connected with five different receivers this season. Meanwhile, its been sophomore Mason Munn slowly making a name for himself at running back. The Grizzlies defense has been really good so far this season, allowing just 11.5 points per game.
Pundit's Pick
A couple of question marks for both teams. Is the real Calhoun the team we saw last week or will they struggle against another good defense this week. For Creekview, the question is whether or not the offensive production will be as good on the road as it has been in the first two weeks. We believe this will be a slugfest this week. We like Calhoun edging the Grizzlies by one, perhaps on a game winning drive.
